"Behind the lens, all my problems dissolve. I look for meaning in the changing light, finding peace and honesty in the energy that lives just beneath the surface of the shadows. My camera goes everywhere with me, which is why I often capture serendipitous images while running errands or getting in my 10,000 steps."
Rebecca’s love for photography began in a high school darkroom, with a hand-me-down Minolta 35mm film SLR camera. Now a proponent of mirrorless technology and the digital darkroom, she uses her camera not just as an expression, but also as a tool to make a living. Since leaving QVC Studios in 2010, she has worked as a food and lodging writer, and as a portrait and wedding photographer. Rebecca developed a passion for photojournalism and documenting the places her adventures take her, as well as telling the the stories of the people that live there.
When the stars align, Rebecca sometimes writes poetry inspired by her photography. She has read her original poems during Cabaradio at the Pine Hill Community Center and at the former Orphic Gallery in Roxbury, NY. Her poems have been published in the Chronogam and most recently, State of the Art.
Growing up in rural Maryland and Pennsylvania, Rebecca's first experience with travel was a solo Amtrak trip across the United States. Struck by wanderlust, she has since journeyed throughout Canada, South America, and Africa. In 2013 she settled in Delaware County, NY with her husband Mark, a local contractor, and their daughter Isabella. Rebecca currently serves as Executive Director of AMR Artists Inc. and a reporter for the Mountain Eagle.
