Dawn Robyn is an artist and an animal lover living in the Catskills, which isn’t exactly original here! However, her path is a bit unique.
This Yale-educated designer left behind a successful career as a stage designer and installation artist in NYC, to establish a horse sanctuary in the Catskills, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary. This flourishing non-profit is now five years old, and is currently caring for more than 70 horses at the sanctuary, where Dawn serves as the executive director.
When not with the horses, Dawn is painting and drawing, but instead of the politically fueled art of her Brooklyn days, she now creates art featuring her equine friends and her rich mountain surround, creating expressive works in mixed media. This is the first time that her Catskill studio will be open to the public, with a wide variety of work available to purchase or enjoy.
Visitors may want to come in time for the Saturday 11 a.m. tour of the horse sanctuary before continuing onto the Open Studio Tours!
