Susan Goetz has a solid, professional standing as a still-life and portrait artist. She has also devoted much of her career to painting from still life and occasionally creates plain air landscapes.
She grew up studying with her parents, Richard V. Goetz and Edith Day Goetz, and then studied at the Art Students League of New York, in Manhattan, with Frank Mason, David A. Leffel, and sculptor Sidney Simon. She also participated in summer classes with Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art, in Provincetown, Massachusetts: with Fran Mason in Vermont; and in the Houston studio of the renown Hungarian artist Lajos Markos.
Susan’s paintings have been exhibited and received awards in exhibitions organized by the Hudson Valley Artists Association, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Audubon Artists, and the Orange County Arts Council.
She has 48 portraits on permanent display at the United states Military Academy at West Point New York. This group of portraits was completed over twenty plus years when Goetz had the on going commission to paint the recipients of The Sylvanus Thayer Award. Portraits in the collection include, Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Senator Barry Goldwater, Congress Woman Barbara Jordan, Secretaries of State. Colin Powell and Henry Kissinger, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day Oconnor, among numerous other American dignitaries from both the public and private sector.

Our home and studios are in “Ridgecrest.” Take Route 10 (Lake Street, Stamford) north from the intersection of Routes 10 & 23 in Stamford (Stewart’s Shop on the corner). Look for the third left (about ¼-mile), which is Park Ave. We are the third house on the right, a large, white Victorian.
