The Hudsonpress Ceramic and Print Studio has been operating in the Catskill Mountains since 2007 after moving from Brooklyn, NY. The owners and artists, Gerda van Leeuwen and Peter Yamaoka, work on their projects daily. On the days of the studio tour demonstrations of throwing on the wheel and basic printmaking will be given.
Classes in ceramic and printmaking are geared to groups or the individual student of all ages. Students have a weekly choice out of the various creative techniques. instruction is provided in general ceramic procedures: handbuilding and wheel throwing or free sculpting.
Printmaking instruction and guidance is provided in creating monoprints and drypoint etching. Basic bookbinding is taught for who wants to turn his/her prints into a book form.
