The beauty of the Catskills, its mountains, valleys, rock-lined creeks and vast sky has provided June Lanigan with an abundance of inspiration. Using watercolor, colored inks and acrylics she has explored the many layers of her environment. The landscape paintings of June Lanigan are soft and inviting.
Still painting, at 91 June continues to create in her studio at Cold Comfort Farm. June was born in 1926. In 1933 her parents bought The Greenhurst Tourist Home on Main Street in Stamford. June graduated from Stamford. After marrying she moved to Long Island where she raised her two daughters and taught art.
Widowed in 1981, she returned to Stamford where she rekindled an old friendship with Richard Lanigan. They married and June called Stamford home once again. June Lanigan was one of the founding “mothers” in 1983 of MURAL, the Mount Utsayantha Regional Art League.
Her artwork has been in many local competitions and is in many private collections and has decorated local businesses such as T.P’s and the Stamford Golf Course.
